Maytag Global HE Dishwasher Error Codes – What You Need To Know!

1-1This code indicates about the stuck relay installed on the main electronic control boardTry disconnecting your appliance from the mains power grid for 5 minutes. After that, plug in the dishwasher machine again. If you see the same code again, examine the wires leading to the main control unit and see if they are loose or damaged. If they are, connect them back in place or make necessary repairs. If you see the wiring harness beyond repairs, replace it with a new one. Take the necessary measurements to test the resistance of components connected to the main control unit. See the tech sheet for more information on these procedures. The tech sheet is located behind the dishwasher’s bottom front toe panel. Once you have revealed any faulty components, they will need replacement. If you see the cable harness and the components are in good operational order, it is the main control unit that needs replacement.
1-2The condition when all the LEDs light upIt happens due to the user interface control panel’s incompatibility with the main electronic control unitThis error will be returned if you install an incompatible user interface control panel on your dishwasher. Check the part’s specifications and order the correct panel to install it on your dishwasher.
2-1A button on the user interface control panel has stuckTest all the buttons available on the user interface control panel for their response. In case one or more buttons are not responsive, disconnect the appliance from the mains grid, disconnect wire harness leading to the user interface control panel, and put the door back in place but with the wires disconnected. Do not close the door. Connect the dishwasher to the mains power supply and wait for not less than 7 seconds to allow the electronic control unit to power up. Now, shut the door. In case the main electronic control unit does not detect stuck buttons any longer with the wire harness disconnected, the dishwasher launches the drain pump. If it does, you will want to replace the user control panel. However, odds are high the drain pump won’t start. In this case, it is the main electronic control unit that needs replacement as it continues to detect stuck buttons even though the user control panel is disconnected.
2-2Disrupted communication between the user control panel and the electronic control unitDisconnect the dishwasher from the mains network. Examine the wiring harness between the panel and the main control unit. In case you see all wires and connections are intact, you will have to replace the user control panel with a new one. However, if the code is returned again, you will want to replace the main electronic control unit.
3-1The error comes up in the case of the thermal sensor or optical water indicator (OWI) malfunction.The thermal sensor measures water temperature, and the optical water indicator tracks water cleanliness. If you see this error code, try disconnecting the dishwasher machine from the mains grid and inspect the wiring harness linking the electronic control unit and the thermal sensor or optical water indicator. If the wires are damaged or loose, repair, replace, or reconnect them back in place. However, you will have to replace the thermal sensor or optical water indicator in case all the wiring is intact.
3-2The thermal sensor or OWI is shortedIf you see this error, disconnect the dishwasher machine from the mains grid and inspect the wiring harness linking the electronic control unit and the thermal sensor or optical water indicator. If the fires are damaged or loose, repair, replace, or reconnect them back in place. However, you will have to replace the thermal sensor or optical water indicator in case all the wiring is intact.
3-3Inappropriate OWI sensor calibration or the faulty return valve, installed in the drain hose; dirty water backflows into the dishwasher machine tubRemove the drain hose from the air gap or garbage disposal. Direct a water stream into the drain hose and watch if it backflows into the tub. In case it does, replace the part of the drain hose connected to the drain pump the hose return valve failed. If water does not backflow into the tub through the hose, connect the hose back in place and run the Service Diagnostics Test described in the tech sheet. The diagnostic mode test should result in a low soil level after the optical water indicator test. If the optical water indicator test ends up with high soil level, disconnect the dishwasher machine from the mains and clean the optical water indicator. Reassemble the dishwasher machine again and connect it to the mains network to restore power supply. Start the diagnostic test cycle again to allow the main electronic control unit to calibrate the optical water indicator. Start a normal wash cycle. In case the error persists, the optical water indicator needs replacement.
4-3The main electronic control unit and the circulation pump drive cannot communicaterDisconnect the dishwasher from the mains grid to cut off the power supply. Check the cable harness, leading to the circulation pump, and connect any loose wires back in place. If the cable harness is damaged, replace it. If all the wirings are operational, replace the circulation pump and the drive assembly. In case the issue persists, replace the main electronic control unit.
5-1The error indicates the faulty door switchThis error lights up if the dishwasher door is not closed within 4 seconds after the Start/Resume button is pressed or in case the door latch unit is out of order. When you start a washing cycle, remember to close the door within a 4-second time span after you have pressed Start/Resume. If the cycle fails to start, returning the same error code, it is the door switch that needs replacement. Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains grid to cut off the power supply. Take off the door and examine the door switch wirings. Connect any loose wires back in place or replace the entire cable harness in case it is damaged. The door latch unit needs replacement if the wiring is in order.
5-2If you see this code, the main control unit detects an unopened doorThe main electronic control unit tracks the door switch activation between washing cycles. In case it was not activated, the dishwasher will fail to start the next cycle. Cancel the cycle if you did not open the door after the previous one. Open the door, close it again, and start a new cycle. This should resolve the problem. In case the washing cycle does not start, the door switch may be faulty and needs replacement. Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains and reconnect it again to simulate the door-opening procedure. If the washing cycle starts successfully, it means that the door switch is defective and the door latch unit needs replacement.
6-1The code informs you that the dishwasher fails to fill with waterExamine the space under the overfill float in the dishwasher. If there is any item stuck, remove it. The overfill float in the top position prevents the dishwasher from being filled with water. Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains to cut off the power supply and turn off the water supply tap. Remove the water supply hose, disconnecting it from the dishwasher water inlet valve and see if its filter screen mesh is not clogged. Replace the water valve if the screen has clogged. Debris from the clog can get into the dishwasher water valve body and block it, preventing it from closing. In case the filter mash is clean, place the dishwasher hose tip in any container and turn on the water supply tap to see if water flows freely through the hose. If no water flows into the container, check your water supply system. In case the water flows normally, examine the wirings leading to the water inlet valve. Connect all loose wires back in place or replace the entire cable harness if it is out of order. If the cable harness is fully functional, it is the water inlet valve or the main electronic control unit that needs replacement.
6-2Water inlet valve malfunctionDisconnect the dishwasher from the mains network to cut off the power supply. Remove both the bottom front access panel and the toe panel. Inspect the wires connected to the water inlet valve. Any loose wires should be reconnected. If damaged, replace the entire cable harness. If all the wiring is in good condition, use a multimeter and test the water inlet valve resistance. The water inlet valve resistance readings should return around 1,400 ohms. If the resistance exceeds the required parameters, replace the water inlet valve. In case the issue persists, replace the main electronic control unit.
6-3Once this code is returned, air or suds are found in the water pumpSee if the water in the dishwasher is too sudsy. If it is very sudsy, cancel the washing cycle and drain the dishwasher. The pump will drain water for 3 minutes. In case the pump cannot drain the water, remove it by hand, using some cloth or water hoover. Examine the detergent dispenser carefully for any damage and replace it if you can see any defects. When using a dishwasher, add exclusively specialized detergents designed to be used with dishwashers. If you use regular washing up agents in the dishwasher machine, they will cause redundant soapsuds formation. If soapsuds are within the normal parameters, check if the water in the dishwasher tub is at the necessary level. The low water level may cause the air in the drain pump. If the water touches the bottom of the mushroom float, the water level is correct. Once you have found the water level lower than that, check for some bowls or other containers in the tub. They could have flipped over into it during the washing cycle and now are holding the rest of the water. Load the utensil back into the rack and check if they sit securely in place. In case you cannot find any utensils in the dishwasher tub, it is the water inlet valve that causes the low water level. Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains to cut off the power supply and turn off your water supply system tap. Remove the water supply hose, disconnecting it from the dishwasher water inlet valve and see if its filter screen mesh is not clogged. Replace the water valve if the screen has clogged. Debris from the clog can get into the dishwasher water valve body and block it, preventing it from closing or opening. In case the filter mash is clean, place the dishwasher hose tip in any container and turn on the water supply tap to see if water flows freely through the hose. 6-4The code lights up when the float switch is openExamine the space under the overfill float switch to see if nothing is blocking it. Remove everything you find there. Test if the inlet water valve shuts off the water supply properly when the dishwasher is turned off.
6-6The code is returned when the water coming into the dishwasher is too coldMake necessary measurements to check whether the water temperature is within a normal range. If the temperature is lower than 110 °F, it is necessary to see if your water heater is in order. In case the water temperature is within normal parameters (110 to 120 °F), you will have to replace either the thermal sensor, optical water indicator, or the main electronic control unit. Read the enclosed tech sheet to know how to run a diagnostic test for the thermal sensor.
6-7The code signals about the disconnected or faulty flow meterDisconnect the dishwasher appliance from the mains grid. Examine the wiring harness leading to the flow meter. In case it is operational, it is the flow meter that needs replacement.
6-8The error code lights up when you have some issues with water softener regeneration valve (exclusively for models compatible with water softener use)Disconnect your machine from the mains grid and examine the wiring leading to the water softener regeneration valve. In case you see no issues with it, the water softener regeneration valve needs replacement. If the code is returned after that, it is the main electronic control unit that needs to be replaced.
7-1You will see this error when the heating element fails to operateCheck the heating element and replace it if you see any damage. In case the heating element is in order, disconnect the dishwasher from the mains and inspect the wirings connecting the main electronic control unit with the heating element. Once you see any loose wires, reconnect them. Replace the wiring harness if you see it damaged. If the cable harness is fully operational, it is the heating element that needs to be replaced.
7-2The code means that the heating element does not switch offTurn off the dishwasher for at least 5 minutes. If the error code persists after you have restored power, the main electronic control unit needs replacement.
8-1The error code signals about slow drainageDisconnect the dishwasher from the mains network to cut off the power supply. Thoroughly inspect the drain hose and remove any clogs you may find in the process. In case the hose and the rest drain path are not clogged, check the wiring harness linking the drain pump and the main electronic control unit. If you see any disconnected wires, connect them back in place. Replace the wiring if it is badly damaged. However, if the wiring connection is in order, it is the drain pump that needs to be replaced.
8-2This code light up when you have some drain pump electrical issueDisconnect the dishwasher machine from the mains network to cut off the power supply. Thoroughly examine the wiring harness linking the drain pump and the main electronic control unit. If you see any loose wires, connect them back in place. Replace the wiring if it is badly damaged. Otherwise, if the wiring harness connection is in order, it is the drain pump that needs replacement
8-3This error is returned by the dishwasher when it has the drain pump stuckDisconnect the dishwasher appliance from the mains network and inspect the drain pump wiring harness. If it is badly damaged, replace it. In case the harness is intact, you will need to replace the main electronic control unit with a new one.
10-1 You have the detergent dispenser malfunctionDisconnect the dishwasher from the mains network to cut off the power supply. Dismantle the door panel and inspect the wiring harness linking the main electronic control unit and the detergent dispenser. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the entire wiring harness if badly damaged. If the wiring is operational, you will have to replace the detergent dispenser with a new one.
10-3 This code means your dishwasher experiences a drying fan malfunctionTry disconnecting the appliance from the power network and examine the wiring harness linking the main electronic control unit and the drying fan. If you see any loose wires, reconnect them back in place. If the harness is badly damaged, replace it with a new one. Otherwise, you will have to replace the drying fan assembly.
