Best Way To Level Your Washing Machine

01.04.2022

When the washer is not installed correctly, it causes the unit to vibrate during high spins, causing excessive noise and damaging the unit in the long run. The level can wear off after some time of usage. You might ask how? All legs on the washing machine are usually adjustable, and over time they might lose their original position due to shaking, working, or when someone moves the machine.

So how to level the washer and make it work like before?

A tool called a level helps you. The level is a piece of aluminum stick with a small liquid container and a bubble in it. In order to test the level of the unit, you must make sure that the drop stays in the middle between two black lines, no matter if you measure the level on a horizontal or vertical axis.

To ensure that the washing machine is leveled, you need to measure the level on the front of the unit horizontally, on the back of the unit, and the side of the unit. Ensure that all sides are leveled equally, so the bubble stays strictly in the middle when the level is being measured.

If the level of the machine is off, you need to adjust the leg that has an off position. Follow the level measures to determine which leg needs to be adjusted. Most of the washer’s legs are screwed in as big bolts with rubber padding and can be adjusted by hand, but sometimes you will need a wrench to screw the legs.

In some old-generation washing machines, back legs are leveled by weight and have a mechanism to balance both back legs equally. If the back legs need to be raised or lowered, tilt the machine forward and let go till the legs meet the floor and fix. Sometimes legs might get stuck due to their age, so you need to tilt the unit a couple of times until the desired result is met.
