How To Get Rid Of F21 Error Code On The Kenmore Washer?

The F21 error code on your Kenmore washer means a drainage issue. It is a sign that the drain line or pump has been blocked with dirt, debris, or another substance. If the water drain time exceeds 8 minutes, a code appears on the appliance display.

Jacob Dillard at Appliance Repair Expert recommends the following steps to troubleshoot the error code.

Step #1. The Washing Machine Should Be Reset

Kenmore washer error codes can help you identify the cause of any malfunctions with your device. If your washer displays the F21 error code, resetting the machine is a simple fix. Firstly, ensure the device is turned off and unplug from the socket. Allow the washer to complete its cycle for approximately 30 minutes. Once the time has passed, plug your Kenmore washer back in. You should see no code on the control panel when the washer is switched on.

Step #2. Take Out The Filter Drain Plug

If resetting the washing machine doesn’t work, look for a blockage in the drain pipe. Don’t forget to check all the connections and ensure the pump is working correctly. Examine the washer’s filter to determine if foreign objects have entered it.

Follow the instructions below if you don’t know how to remove the Kenmore washer filter:

  1. First, remove the bottom front panel by unscrewing the three Torx screws.
  2. Lift the panel with care and gently move the pump toward you.
  3. Pull the filter cover out by twisting it counterclockwise with your hand. Before you begin, ensure you have a towel or a pan ready to catch the water from the filter.

Step #3. Pump Motor Replacement

To ensure your washing machine works efficiently, it is important to clean the filter of water and debris. If the error code persists, it’s likely that your washer’s pump motor is broken and needs to be replaced with a new one. If you are not familiar with the process of replacing the pump motor, hire an expert to do it for you.
